Unintentional High Fiber Diet

I tried an experiment today to see if Roland's separation anxiety is caused by the crate, or if it's just me leaving home (it's me). Unfortunately, Roland took advantage of my absence to go counter surfing, and inhaled a six-pack of whole wheat english muffins, with 6 g of fiber each.

Is this going to cause a problem before it comes out the other end?

He seems fine- hasn't been behaving sluggishly, heart rate and reaction is normal, and the only sign that he hasn't been good today has been a slightly pudgier belly than normal, but it gives to the touch and is similar to when he got into the dog food bin at the rescue. Still, if I need to call an emergency vet, I'd really like to know now.

I rather doubt that it will cause anything other than an unpleasant excess of poo.

I had a dog eat a whole bunch of chunks out of a foam mattress followed by puncturing a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and lapping up the contents. He pooed bouncy little foam wads for two days, but was otherwise fine.

Dog digestive systems are frighteningly sturdy.
Wow. I'm sorry for your dog's intestinal tract, but this made me laugh harder than anything that has happened today. Little foam wads. Gahhh!!!
My beagle ate an entire loaf of Wonder Bread once. He was TERRIBLE about getting into things. He lives with my ex-husband now, and apparently got into a bag of flour and a jar of Atomic Fireballs. At the same time. He (and the ex's home) was covered in pink globs of flour. Norman ate lipstick (only the expensive kind, a-thank you), he once knocked over a bottle of Woodchuck and had lapped up a good portion before anyone knew what he was doing, and he chewed open a jar of Manic Panic Vampire Red and proceeded to roll in the contents. The above poster is right. Frighteningly sturdy. I would just make sure he's drinking tons, because if the fiber does make him poo a lot you don't want him to get dehydrated.
I imagine he's going to be just fine. You could always call a vet or call Petsmart and ask if it's going to be a problem if you want to be extra-cautious.

My mom told me a story about how her Irish setter once ate an entire [and very salty] ham that was on the counter. They got home and he'd drained every toilet in the house, and had then proceeded to pee everywhere.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh! This is a great one. :-)
